Activities

After reading the entries bellow you can do this exercises to see what you have learned about the UK, let's go!


Wales

Wales is one of the nations that form the United Kingdom and is located on the island of Great Britain. Wales is regarded as one of the modern Celtic nations. The capital of this country is Cardiff, also the largest city, and the official languages are English and Welsh.


Places to visit
Cardiff: the capital of the country has so many things to offer! You can do many things and visit lots of places within the city, watch the video below to get a snippet of this beautiful place


Snowdonia: this beautiful national park is the largest in Wales. It is also home of the biggest mountain of the country, Snowdon, which is the chief attraction of the park. There are about 26000 people living within this place and it has a really high number of tourist a year.


Bodnant Garden: one of the most beautiful gardens in Britain. It was voted the winner of "The National Trust Gardens Award" by National Trust members and visitors. This garden has a wide variety of flowers and plants; the place is filled with color throughout the seasons.

Anglesey: this island is home to numerous fishing villages along the coast but tourism has made its way into its life. Here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the sea and the pretty sandy beaches. One of the landmarks you can see in this island is the South Stack Lighthouse.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct: built of stone and cast in iron, this aqueduct was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It took about ten years to build and it is the highest aqueduct in the world. 


England

England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west.The capital and the largest city is London.
The national language is english and the regional language is cornish.
  


Places to visit

London 

  • Westminster:It's considered the political area of London and is home to the Houses of Parliament and the world-famous Big Ben. Big Ben is the name of the bell housed within the iconic clock tower.You can also find Westminster Abbey here, which is open to the public most days. 

  • London Eye:Originally constructed to celebrate the millennium, the Eye is a giant ferris wheel offering gorgeous views across the city. At night, the wheel is lit up in seasonal colors.


  • Camden Town: Camden is a well-known cultural neighborhood in north London.  Camden Market is eclectic and diverse, featuring street food from international cuisines, and lots of stalls selling trinkets and unique artwork to take home. 

  • Piccadilly Circus: It's a little square with a lot of video screens and advertising posters.The Statue of Eros in the center of the circus is itself a popular meeting point and tourist destination.

  • Museums:London is one of the best cities in the world for culture with a number of free museums to enjoy. The Natural History Museum you can explore the museum and find ancient fossils and stuffed animals.The Science Museum you can do hands-on activities and investigate scientific progress throughout the ages.Victoria and Albert Museum will shift focus to cultural history.It show alongside fashion and living tools from around the world. British Museum where you can see the Rosetta Stone, mummified remains and explore centuries of archaeological discoveries.The Samsung Digital Discovery Centre is perfect for children, with hundreds of free activities to explore history and culture through modern technology.

  • Hyde Park:Hyde Park is possibly the most famous park in London, and it is one of the largest. 
     The park is home to several memorial features, as well as two bodies of water, the most famous being the Serpentine. Here you can go paddle-boating, see a number of swans, and take in a breath of fresh air in the center of the city. 
Other cities in England

Yorkshire:It's consider its food and drink reputation as now the best in Britain.
It's landscape is very attractive, we can see old cities, sweeping moors and dales.


Cotswolds: In this town  you can see honey-coloured towns and village.The area is characterised by gentle dynamism, with lively galleries, vibrant festivals and intriguing museums.

Devon:Most people are drawn to the magnificent beaches, good food and the great outdoors. The farmers’ markets are full of artisan producers selling delicious cider, apple juice, cheese and ice cream.


Lake District:It's the greenest countryside and grandnest views. There are a lot of lakes, valleys, woodlands  to get out and experience the great outdoors.



Bath:Bath is a strong contender for England’s most beautiful small city. It has a fascinating and easily accessible history.





Brighton: Visit Brighton because you need never get bored in this city.You can go to shopping areas and enjoy culture, music and arts. It's a seaside resort on the south coast of England.
