Northern Ireland



One of the four nations of the United Kingdom. Northern Ireland shares a border to the south and west with the Republic of Ireland. It's capital is Belfast, the largest city in the nation, and the regional languages are English, Irish and Ulster Scots (Ulster dialect of the Scots language)


Places of interest
Titanic Belfast: The most popular tourist attraction. It is a monument and museum with six floors, dedicated to the famous ship's history, the people who were involved in it's building and the city it comes from. In this place you can visit different reconstructions of cabins, decks and engine rooms.

The Giant's Causeway: the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland, this place is famous for the amphitheaters of columns shaped like hexagons, made by rocks. According to the legend it was carved out by the giant Finn McCool, who left behind his ancient home to do battle with his enemy Benandonner.

    Dunluce Castle:  one of the most famous castles of the region. It is a medieval castle, nowadays in ruins. It is located in County Antrim, and is accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland. This castle was also feautured in the popular TV series Game of Thrones, which brought in a new wave of tourists.

    Derry City Walls:  completed in 1618 and mainly planned as a defense of the city against raiders. Derry’s walls are centuries old and approximately 1.5km in circumference. This place has a fantastic view and you can experience a little bit of Northern Ireland's history.

    Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge: this short bridge is 30.4 metres above the ocean and rocks below, spans the gap between the mainland and the island of Carrickarede. Many people come here for the views and thrill of crossing this bridge.
